The Savage Chronicles

Just some random thoughts and stuff from the Savage’s

  • About Me:

My name is Robyn, I'm the mom to 8 really great kids, an awesome son-in-law, one great daughter-in-law and 2 very cute grandsons. I love to do family history and find out all sorts of great stories about my ancestors. I also like messing with computers and having fun on them!

So if you girls want to know how to catch a man, just ask Mat... Nikki was talking about boyfriends in general and commented about maybe getting one. Mat pipes up and says: "Nikki, just dress up nice and pretty... Men (yes he said men) like pretty girls." Everyone laughed and Nikki says, "Oh, really?" and Mat says, "Nikki, I'm a man, I know what men like." She tells him that they like other things, too. Mat's reply: "Yup, they like nintendos, too."
  • More of Mat’s Musings…

Doug is eating popcorn and as usual it is drowning in butter... Doug says "You know, butter is good for you..." Mat says, "not when you eat it by the tub!" What a smart boy! ;)

Today, we were going to Sister Eva Beddes's house to clean out her fridge because she has gone to Utah to live with her kids, our very good friends Randy Beddes and his sister, Margo Irvine. Since Doug calls Randy "Beddes" quite often, Mat apparently has assumed that that is his name. Well, on the way to Sister Beddes' house, Mat says, "Mom, what is Beddes' last name?" Well, I (unthinkingly) replied, "Beddes", so Mat says, "Oooh, so his name is Beddes Beddes!" I think Randy will get a kick out of that. :0
  • Mat’s Musings

The other day, Mat asked Doug if he could help him start a business when he grows up. Doug told him that by the time he grew up and went to college he would probably know more the him. So Mat, of course, starts asking more questions. He asked his dad if he would work for him. Doug said that he could maybe sweep the floors for him. Mat thought that was a good idea, so Doug decided to push it a little and said "Maybe I can get my stuff for free?" Mat's answer: "I think you will need to work for it." We think he is going to be a great business man!

  • And…

Tonight at Family Home Evening, Savanna was conducting and told Mat that he needed to give the family motto. However, Keesha, listening as always, piped up with the motto... Tenga Fe (Have Faith). We all thought Mat would be upset so we waited for the small outburst. But, it seems that Mat was actually listening to the lesson, which was on forgiveness, and said, "I think I'll let Keesha say it."

well this week was pretty crazy with chrismas and all but things were going really slow but they are starting to speed back up. well something pretty cool happened on the 27 we were out tracting and we got a phone call from a member in our ward that said he didnt have enough preisthood holders to go to his daughters babtisim so he wanted us to come and so we went and she had just turned 8 and she didnt want a lot of people there so it was just he imedate family and a member of the bishoprick and us. so we got to be the whitness and help with the compformation. it was pretty cool because it was like since I wasnt able to go to mats babtisim this one was good enough the little girl was pretty excited I had never even met her before but now she loves us we just had dinner at their house yesterday and she made us sit on either side of her at the dinner table. but it was kind of embarrising because it is a family that dosent say the word shut up and my compainon said some thing to make fun of me and I told him to shut up just kind of like a what ever thing. and all of the 7 kids just stared at me with a blank look on their faces and my compaion looked at me like you shouldnt have said that and then the mom said elder in this home we say please be quiet. so I felt really bad. but other than that not much else is happening oh yeah my companions girl friend is still waiting for him but he wouldnt care if she didnt. also I dont know if you remember christine but we stoped by her house the other day to check up on her and she had been smoking 1pack and a half a day and when we talked to her she said that she hasnt smoked in like two days. she said that one night she got up coughing and hacking and went to get a ciggerette and as soon as she pulled it out she was like these things are killing me. so she said a prayer and she hasnt smoked since so that is pretty cool. well that is all until next week. New Calling

Posted by savagechronicles on December 3, 2008

Well, its about time I wrote something on the darn blog. I see everyone else is doing great, having babies, doing thanksgiving, etc., etc. My big news is that now that Doug has been released from his Stake Presidencey calling, they pounced on me. I was really enjoying being the one to support my husband. Now, I am going to enjoy being with my daughter on Wednesday nights and on Sunday mornings! Yup, I’m the new Young Women President in our ward! My counselors are: 1st-Kim Mickleson (she was one of my Mia Maids back in the day!); 2nd-Tammy Middleton; and Sec-Colleen W. Tippetts. I think they’ll be great! I haven’t really had a leadership calling for about 14-20 years. I may have had a brief stint in the YW and Primary during that time, but definately not in the last 12 years or so! So I think that you all should give me some great suggestions for my new calling. Oh, and by the way, Doug is the High Priest Instructor (he has to teach 2 Sundays a month).
